From Print to Voice: Komba Bible Available for All

For the Komba church leaders in Ghana, 2025 marked the culmination of more than two decades of prayer, planning, and partnership—all centered on one mission: Bringing the full Bible to the Komba community in the language they understand best. As they celebrated the dedication of the printed Bible, another version also became available—an audio Bible.
A shipment of 1,000 Kulumi audio players, each loaded with the fully recorded Old and New Testaments, arrived for distribution to the community. Those with limited eyesight and reading abilities benefit the most from the audio devices.

More than a decade ago, the Christian organization One Way Africa supported the recording of the Komba New Testament. After the Old Testament translation was ready to print in 2025, Lutheran Bible Translators missionary David Federwitz approached One Way Africa—this time to support an Old Testament audio recording.
One Way Africa partnered with Davar Audio Bible, a ministry specializing in high‑quality Scripture audio recordings around the world. Together, they assembled and deployed a recording team to the Komba region, capturing the Old Testament in the language of the community.
The Kulumi audio players were loaded with the complete Komba Bible. The durable, solar powered devices designed specifically for communities with limited access to technology.

Kulumi’s mission is to provide innovative, affordable electronic devices for people who might otherwise have little access to digital resources. The audio players feature solar charging, simple navigation, and powerful, built-in speaker, making it suitable for both personal listening and group Bible study
Kulumi players help people hear Scripture clearly—whether they have poor eyesight, struggle to read, or are gathered in groups to study together.
Through the combined labor of translators, audio engineers, local church leaders, and ministry partners, God’s Word is now accessible to the Komba people in multiple forms—written, audio, and even through Scripture apps on mobile phones.
This project stands as an example of collaboration across organizations, all united by a shared commitment: Making the Word of God available in every language so every community can engage with Scripture deeply and personally.
