MK Scholarhip 2024 Recipient: Hannah Federwitz

CONGRATULATIONS, HANNAH FEDERWITZ!

Hannah Federwitz is Lutheran Bible Translators’ Ministry Kid Scholarship 2024 Recipient.

Hannah lived overseas for 17 years, growing up in Ghana and most recently Ethiopia. She will be attending Concordia University Nebraska in the fall to study Behavioral Science. She hopes to work with Third Culture Kids through their transitions and challenges in a member care role. Hannah’s parents, Paul and Ali Federwitz both serve on the Lutheran Bible Translators’ team. Paul currently serves as Director of Field Programs, providing leadership and support for ministry work around the world. Ali serves as a Member Care Coordinator, providing consultation, lay counseling, crisis response and support helping missionaries and staff thrive in cross-cultural ministry.

Alvina Federwitz and her late husband, Rev. Dale Federwitz, Hannah’s grandparents, began their missionary career with Lutheran Bible Translators in 1971. Alvina currently serves as Mission Participation Coordinator for Lutheran Bible Translators. She retired from full-time service in 2017 but continues to serve in an adjunct capacity.

Congratulations, Hannah and the Federwitz family!

About the Missionary Kid Scholarship
As a Lutheran Bible Translators missionary in Guatemala, Tammy Kinney greatly enjoyed sharing God’s love with K’iche’ and Cakchiquel children. Also dear to her heart were missionary kids. One ongoing project in Guatemala is a camp for the missionary kids serving alongside their parents in that country. The Lord placed on Tammy’s heart a great desire to bless others, especially youth.

To honor Tammy’s love for missionary kids, Lutheran Bible Translators has set up a Missionary Kid Scholarship fund. Every year, one applicant, a child of a former or current Lutheran Bible Translators missionary who spent at least three years in another country, is awarded a $1500 post-secondary education scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be:
– Former or current Lutheran Bible Missionary Kid who spent at least three years in another country
– GPA of 3.0 or higher
– Healthy spiritual life
– Applicants may be planning to attend any institution or entering any field of study, but special consideration will be given to students who are planning a career in ministry or missions.

An independent Scholarship Review Committee (comprised only of individuals who have never been employed by Lutheran Bible Translators) review applications and recommend scholarship recipients.
