Advent in the Word: Ordered by God

REFLECTION
At first glance, these verses seem like mere background—historical footnotes to the Christmas story. But look again. The global empire’s movements were not random. God used the decree of a pagan emperor to fulfill His promise: the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.
This is what hope in God’s faithfulness looks like: knowing that even the powers of the world are not beyond His reach. His purposes prevail. His Word endures. Even now, He is working in ways we can’t yet see. The quiet details of your life may seem insignificant, but God is weaving a story bigger than you know. Don’t underestimate what He can do with ordinary things.
Go Deeper: Read Micah 5:2 alongside this verse. What details has God fulfilled in your life that you didn’t recognize at the time?
PRAYER
Lord of all, You are sovereign over history and the details of our lives. Use even the ordinary and overlooked moments to draw us closer to Jesus, the promised Savior. Amen.
