Advent in the Word: Delighting in Hope

REFLECTION

It’s easy to believe God notices the strong, the successful, the certain. But Psalm 147 offers a different truth: God delights in those who hope. Not those who have it all together. Not those who are always brave. He delights in the ones who choose to trust Him, even when it’s hard.

This kind of hope isn’t passive. It’s not pretending everything’s fine. It’s anchoring your soul in the steadfast love of a God who never lets go. When we turn to Scripture, we hear that love spoken over us again and again. His delight isn’t based on performance. It’s rooted in His grace. So if your hope today is small, shaky, or hard-won…you are still loved. And God still delights in you.

Go Deeper: Read all of Psalm 147. What contrasts do you see between human strength and God’s love?

PRAYER
Lord, thank You for delighting in those who hope in You. Teach us to trust Your unfailing love more deeply. Let Your Word quiet our fears and renew our hope. Amen.
