A Wider Perspective

Rev. Pottschmidt (far right) meeting with EECMY and LBT personnel

If you’re at all familiar with Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT), you know that we are always excited to tell you about the translation process, specific projects, and the impact God’s Word has when Scripture becomes available to people in a language they understand.

The cumulative knowledge and experience of LBT staff and missionaries is considerable—we certainly have great information to share. But sometimes it’s nice to hear the perspective of someone not directly involved in translation. Why is Bible translation important? What impact does it have beyond the mission field?

Rev. Michael Pottschmidt is the guest speaker on LBT’s latest podcast, The Building Without the Book. He had the opportunity to travel to Ethiopia with LBT in 2018 and visit the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY), one of LBT’s many partners. The experience “made the world smaller but the kingdom of God so much bigger.”
