Keeping On
March 16, 2020. That’s the day the office staff of Lutheran Bible Translators started working from home. At first it was supposed to be through the end of the month. Then the time was extended…and extended again…
Like you, we’ve all had to make adjustments due to COVID-19. How to work, how to shop, how to worship. How to handle the change in family dynamics. How to stay in touch with those both far and near.
It’s been a tough time for everybody. Partners around the world are being affected by restrictions and stay-at-home orders just like we are. Progress on translation projects is slower as missionaries and translation teams are unable to meet in person, often relying on sporadic internet or other means of communication.
Still, it’s a time of unity. We’ve had messages of support from Christian brothers and sisters who are praying for us even in their own time of crisis. LBT staff and missionaries are staying in touch through daily devotions and online meetings. In fact, it’s been an opportunity to find new and innovative ways to continue the work of Bible translation both on the mission field and here at home.
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to visit us on Facebook. There you’ll find daily Bible verses and news updates. On the lighter side are Trivia Tuesday and Wisdom Wednesday. You can also view our new video series Keeping On, words of encouragement for this difficult time.
I also invite you to view Essentially Translatable, an LBT podcast hosted by Rev. Rich Rudowske. This series will explore the Bible translation process and feature leaders in global translation. First up is LBT Executive Director Dr. Mike Rodewald.
Thank you for your support of Lutheran Bible Translators, even during this challenging time. You continue to be in our prayers.
