LBT Core Values – Fiscal Responsibility

What greater trust can there be but that God would allow all of us at LBT the privilege of making His Word accessible to people in the language of their hearts?  To do so requires prayer and financial support from many faithful donors.  And it is the responsibility of the missionaries, staff, and board of LBT to ensure that those gifts are administered according to the best practices of stewardship and accountability.

High Standards

LBT is committed to the principles of Biblical Stewardship, accountability, and transparency. We handle financial resources according to best practices and high ethical standards.  We have been a charter member of the ECFA (Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability) since its inception in 1980.  We are audited annually by an outside accounting firm and share the report on our website along with other financial information, such as IRS form 990.

Additionally, LBT’s board of directors, which operates under the principles of policy governance, meets three times a year.  These dedicated men and women from a variety of backgrounds lend their knowledge and experience to the efforts of LBT’s leadership team, providing guidance and oversight, encouraging accountability and transparency.

Stewardship is priority

At LBT, we know that we are called to responsibly manage what God has provided to us through His people in order to do the work of Bible translation.  As director of finance and operations, I am acutely aware of the financial health of the organization.  Each and every one of my co-workers strives to be fiscally responsible as they serve with LBT.  The budgeting process for programs on the field and staffing in the U.S. is an intricate process.  Our goal is to utilize resources to the fullest potential, keeping expenditures down without adversely affecting the quality or scope of LBT’s mission.

Bottom line: mission work is costly.  We commit to being good stewards of the blessings we have been given.  And we willingly share with our donors and the public our financial position and how we use our resources in carrying out God’s mission through LBT.

The passion on our hearts to share the Gospel was put there by God Himself.  With His help and guidance we will continue to strive to be the best stewards of what He has entrusted to us – His Holy Word, and the means to share it with people in their own languages.
