Advent in the Word: Love Proven

REFLECTION
God doesn’t just speak love—He shows it. And not after we had cleaned up our act or figured everything out. Christ came for us in our lostness, our rebellion, our need. That’s what makes the gospel so astonishing.
This verse takes us straight to the heart of Advent. The baby in the manger came with a cross in His future. The Incarnation wasn’t just a sentimental gesture from God to humankind, it was extraordinarily sacrificial. God’s love doesn’t hover at a distance; it enters the story and carries the cost. And that’s exactly what Scripture reveals again and again: a faithful God who runs toward His people with mercy. Let this verse lead you not only to reflection, but to gratitude. The One who came for you also died for you. That’s how much you matter to Him.
Go Deeper: Read Romans 5:1–11. How does God’s love shape our view of suffering and endurance?
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You for loving us first. Help us never forget the cost of Your grace. Let this truth transform how we see You—and how we see ourselves. Amen.
