messenger: A Day in the Life

The Bandi Translation Team

Each day, the Bandi translation team begins with prayer, often joining Bible House staff for morning devotions. This time of worship unifies the team and centers them on their mission to bring God’s Word to the Bandi people.

After devotions, the team begins their translation work. The day’s lead translator – chosen based on the book being worked on – reads passages aloud, while another member provides an oral back translation. This sparks thoughtful discussion about tone, phrasing, and cultural nuances. A projector displays edits for the team to review together, ensuring accuracy and consistency while honoring both the original text and Bandi linguistic traditions.

Lunch is a time for fellowship, with meals often prepared by a local friend. The team shares updates about their families, work challenges, and encouragement for one another. These moments deepen their camraderie.

The day concludes as it began: in prayer. The team’s devotion to their faith, language, and one another is evident in every step. It reflects their shared commitment to faithfully translate Scripture so the Bandi people can encounter God’s Word in their heart.
