Advent Devotion: Luke 2:1-2

Reflection

“In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)” These verses set the stage for Jesus’ birth, showing how God used world events to accomplish His divine plan.

Though the census may have seemed like a disruption to the people of that time, it fulfilled God’s promise that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Advent reminds us that God is always in control, even in the midst of circumstances that seem chaotic. His faithfulness ensures that His plans will come to fruition, bringing hope to a world in need of a Savior.

Prayer

Faithful God, thank You for working through all things to accomplish Your plans. Help us trust in Your sovereignty, even when life feels uncertain. May we find hope in knowing that You are always in control. Amen.
