Advent in the Word: Waiting in the Right Direction

REFLECTION
Hope is not passive. To wait in hope is to lean forward, to anticipate that God will act, not because we deserve it, but because He’s faithful. Psalm 33 reminds us where to fix our eyes: not on the outcome, but on the One who helps, shields, and saves.
Rejoicing while waiting may seem contradictory, but that’s the paradox of faith. The ore we learn to trust His name, His character, and His promises, the more we can rejoice even in the delay. Open the Word today and let it shift your focus from “when will it happen?” to “who is with me while I wait?”
Go Deeper: Read the full Psalm 33. What does it say about the Lord’s power and His closeness?
PRAYER
Lord, help us to wait with joyful trust. Teach us to rejoice, not in what’s ahead, but in who You are. Our hope is in Your name. Amen.
