Empowering Bible Translators

Bible translation in Papua New Guinea is advancing with new tools to support translators and communities in engaging deeply with Scripture. A one-day REV79 training workshop was recently held, bringing together participants from Seed Company, Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT), the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELC-PNG), Bible Translation Association (BTA), and the Waria Multi-Language Project.

What is REV79?

REV79 is an innovative mobile application designed to enhance the Bible translation process by providing intuitive tools for drafting, reviewing, and refining translations directly from a phone or tablet. This app streamlines translation work, enabling teams to collaborate efficiently, check for accuracy, and integrate insights from previous translation efforts—all while keeping God’s Word at the center.

Training for Impact

The training was structured in two key parts:

📌 Morning Session – Program Planning Discussion: Participants discussed strategies for integrating REV79 into their ongoing translation efforts, drawing insights from previous trainings in Cameroon to optimize the workflow.

📌 Afternoon Session – Hands-On App Training: Teams explored the practical features of REV79, learning how to use the app to increase efficiency, maintain consistency, and improve collaboration in their Bible translation projects.

Why This Matters

Papua New Guinea is one of the most linguistically diverse countries in the world, with over 800 languages spoken. Bible translation efforts must be effective, adaptable, and sustainable. REV79 equips translators with a tool that makes their work more accessible and accurate, ensuring that Scripture is not only translated but also understood and embraced by the communities it serves.

This training marks another step forward in using technology to accelerate Bible translation work, ultimately bringing God’s Word to more people in their heart language.
