A Call For Partnership: Churches & Schools

In a world where over 7,000 languages are spoken, only about 750 have a complete Bible translation. This highlights a significant gap in access to God’s Word for Christians around the world. Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT) is dedicated to bridging this divide by inviting local congregations and schools to join this mission through Bible Translation Sundays and Bible Translation Chapels.

Bible Translation Sundays

Bible Translation Sunday is an initiative that allows churches to engage with the global mission of Bible translation. By hosting this event, congregations can raise awareness and support for translating Scripture into languages that still lack access to the Bible.

How It Works:

  1. Sign Up: Churches register to host a Bible Translation Sunday on a date that fits their schedule.
  2. Receive Toolkit: LBT provides a free toolkit containing service elements, a sermon rich with stories, an engaging children’s message, adult Bible study materials, PowerPoint slides, printable bulletin inserts, and children’s activity books.
  3. Host the Event: Utilize the provided resources to conduct a service focused on the importance of Bible translation, inspiring the congregation to participate in this global mission.

Hosting a Bible Translation Sunday not only educates the congregation about the need for Bible translation but also unites them in a tangible mission effort. As one participant noted, “Bible Translation Sunday helped our church live its mission: Connected to Christ to Care for Community.”

Bible Translation Chapels

For educational institutions, Bible Translation Chapels offer a dynamic way to involve students in global missions. This chapel series is designed to take students on a global adventure, showcasing how God is working through Bible translation to bring hope and transformation worldwide.

Program Features:

  • Engaging Videos: Short, 5-7 minute videos featuring real mission stories from the field.
  • Leader Guides: Chapel outlines and discussion guides to facilitate meaningful conversations.
  • Student Materials: Age-appropriate content that connects students to the mission of Bible translation.
  • Prayer Resources: Prayer cards and opportunities to integrate prayer into the classroom setting.

By participating, schools can inspire students to see themselves as active participants in God’s mission, teaching them about biblical stewardship, global awareness, and practical ways to serve others. Every $20 raised through these efforts provides a Bible for someone waiting to hear God’s Word in their language.

The Importance of Partnership in global mission

The collaboration between local congregations, schools, and Lutheran Bible Translators is vital. These partnerships amplify the reach and impact of Bible translation efforts, ensuring that more communities receive Scripture in their heart language. Engaging in these programs fosters a sense of global mission, uniting congregations with believers worldwide in the shared goal of making God’s Word accessible to all people.
