About the Komba Scripture Engagement Project
In 2025, the full Komba Bible will be printed, dedicated, and distributed throughout Komba-speaking communities in Ghana. This milestone builds on years of Scripture engagement and creates new opportunities for churches, families, and community leaders to deepen their understanding of God’s Word.

Since the New Testament was completed in 2014, Komba communities have embraced Scripture through written, audio, and digital formats. Your partnership helps ensure the full Bible is not only available, but actively used through literacy training, local leadership development, and Scripture engagement opportunities across the community.
Empower Local Leaders
Churches and community leaders play a key role in helping people engage with the newly completed Komba Bible. Through literacy classes, Scripture workshops, and local leadership training, communities will be equipped to read, understand, and share God’s Word in their language.

Step 1
Expand Access to the Komba Bible
- Distribute Komba Bibles throughout churches and communities
- Equip congregations with Scripture engagement resources
- Introduce families and community groups to the full Komba Bible

Strengthen Literacy and Learning Opportunities
- Establish 50 literacy classes in Komba-speaking communities
- Train literacy supervisors and class facilitators
- Provide Scripture-based literacy materials for learners

Michael and Naomi Ersland
Michael and Naomi have served with the Komba Old Testament translation project since 2016. Michael works as a translation advisor for the project. Both Michael and Naomi appreciate learning from the local church as God’s Word is used to celebrate life’s joys and mourn life’s sorrows. The Word becomes alive and active from new perspectives as language, culture, and faith interweave into a local fabric.

Located primarily in northeast Ghana, the Komba language crosses over into Togo.
For generations, Komba speakers have preserved their culture, history, and faith through their language. The full Komba Bible creates new opportunities for Scripture engagement, literacy, and discipleship within Komba-speaking communities.
