Rev. Martin Payi, an ordained Lutheran minister and linguistics graduate, is embarking on a two-year internship to gain vital experience in Bible translation and community engagement. Through this program, he will serve communities in Cross River State while building expertise for future translation work.

Internship Plan

Step 1

Community Integration and Assessment

  • Observe and learn about local language and culture.
  • Meet with community leaders to understand translation needs.
  • Support ongoing translation and Scripture engagement efforts.

Step 2

Project Support and Development

  • Encourage use of existing Scripture resources like Gospel of Luke and the JESUS film.
  • Help improve reading and writing materials for communities.
  • Participate in relevant training opportunities.

Step 3

Partnership Building

  • Visit churches and community leaders to share project updates.
  • Document progress through reports and photography.
  • Maintain communication with Lutheran Bible Translators and supporters.
