Over half of SW Ethiopia’s languages do not have God’s WOrd
The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus South West Synod (EECMY-SWS) was established in 1990 as a locally-led initiative for Bible translation. The synod’s primary goal is to connect people to Christ through the proclamation of the Gospel while embodying God’s love through holistic service.
The EECMY-SWS strives to reach every local language and beyond. Teams are working on Bible translation programs in seven languages: Konso, Dhirayta, Zayse, Ale, Tsamakko, Hamer, and Mosiye.
“God’s Word is perfect, understandable, and it is clearly speaking to the hearts of many in my language,” says one translation reviewer.
Empowering Local Leaders
We believe that every community should have the chance to read the Bible in the language they know best. Your financial gifts and prayers help leaders in Ethiopia accelerate translation of the Bible into the languages of their people.
Program Goals
- Effective coordination of projects for smooth functioning.
- Facilitate training and consultant checking sessions.
- Participate in the annual Bible week and translation conference to promote awareness of work.
