“The prayers of many people over many years are being answered!” reports the Konso translation team. Revision of the New Testament is complete. Only manuscript checking and proofreading remain to be done before the Old Testament will be ready for printing.
In the largely Christian country of Ethiopia, 53 out of 85 language communities are without any Scripture in their mother tongue. Full Bibles are even rarer. The Konso Bible will bring spiritual impact and transformation to a community that periodically knows unrest and uncertainty. “Many people find comfort in Scripture, learning to trust God under all circumstances.”
Over the coming months the team will encourage individuals and congregations to use the Konso Bible as it becomes available. They will also offer advice to churches and community members involved in outreach to non-Christians. As one expressed, “We praise God to see the fruit of many years coming to the hands of the people.”
